World Breastfeeding Week, is a global observance that takes place annually from August 1st to August 7th. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of both infants and mothers. The theme for this year’s World Breastfeeding Week is: “Let's make breastfeeding and work, work”

To promote and support breastfeeding as the best way to provide infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development, this episode of Mzansi Health Talks, a World Health Organization South Africa podcast, delves into conversation with Dr Sithembile Nqeketo-Dlamini, WHO South Africa National Professional Officer (NPO) for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH). This episode aims to educate and inform communities about the benefits of breastfeeding, as well as to address the challenges and barriers that some women may face in initiating and sustaining breastfeeding, particularly in the South African context.
